Women entrepreneurs find themselves trying to balance their life personally and professionally. I must say the world of entrepreneurship is a wonderful experience although sometimes it might not seem that way. Can I share a secret with you? There is no such thing as work/life balance. If this were something that could be solved, it would have been solved by now, would you agree? They’ve been researching writing books, articles, for years.

Here is one important element to balancing it all personally and professionally and experiencing all the freedom and financial success that entrepreneurship has to offer.

You want to focus on what matters most, AT THAT TIME. When you’re at work, your business should matter most. Your focus should be totally on business. You should not be worrying about what is going on at home.

If you don’t have to worry about home while at work, you’ll be more productive.

If while at home you can focus your mind, time, and energy on home and your family, they will be getting all the things they need from you.

That means no bringing work home. And really you shouldn’t have to. If you can focus on what matters most at the time, get more done.

Now occasionally you may have to bring work home, but you don’t have to allow it to interfere with your time with your family. You can do it after they are in bed or while they’re reading or doing their homework, if they’re older. It shouldn’t be an all the time situation.

This can all be accomplished with inserting some structure in your life. I know some of you, and you might not like structure. Structure brings systems and systems create freedom. That’s what will give you the ability to focus on what matters most at the time.

Learn to focus on what matters most at the time. Then you’ll have what they call “Balance”.

Many people let the start stop them. I want to equip you with key strategies that can help you get going if you’re new to the world of entrepreneurship or if you’re a seasoned Vet and maybe have lost the spark. Well you may have not lost the spark but you can’t get the fire going.

Systems. I live by systems and processes. And when I don’t have systems in place things get thrown all out of sync! You may be feeling something similar yourself. You’re all over the place. You begin work in the morning but you spend the first 30 minutes to 1 hour going through piles of papers trying to figure out what to do first. Then some things you forget because, well, you just can’t remember everything. Think of Systems as your “Knight and Shining Armor” it’s there to save the day.

Delegation. I’ll admit I too was skeptical about delegating in the beginning. I felt that no one could do it like I wanted it done. You know, it wouldn’t be of the same quality. It wouldn’t get done on time. Or, I just didn’t have the time to explain it to them. And then if I had to take the time to explain it to them, it would be quicker to just do it myself, plus I know it would be done!

Delegating is like survival! It gives you time back, gets you out of overwhelm, and allows you to step into being that true visionary leader you were meant to be.

Leadership – you’ve got to transform yourself and your business. You do that by stop doing and start leading. It’s your company and your vision. You should provide the direction. This is the part you don’t delegate. Many women in the world of entrepreneurship let this part fall by the side and spend most of their time focusing on things that are not income producing or helping the business grow.

If you know anything about football, I’m sure you can envision what I’m about to say. If not, then I’ll paint the picture for you. So don’t fall off, stay with me.

The play is in motion. You’ve already sent the play in; remember in the huddle, which I talk about in my book Entrepreneur Extraordinaire. You have the players in the game that you chose. And they run the plays. Your objective is for them to make progress towards the goal by getting first and tens. As you get those first and tens, you’ll make your way to a touch down, achieving your goal. Now that’s the ideal situation you’ll want to have.

What allows you to have this ideal situation is having the systems already in place for your team. So that as you bring your employees, independent contractors, or virtual assistants on you already know what the process is for whatever task they will be performing. You’ve also already figured out what needs to be delegated and what you want to delegate. You have decided whom you’ll delegate to based on their skill set.

By doing these things before bringing a person in to help you in your business it gives you the ability to have a hands off approach, which I talk about in Entrepreneur Extraordinaire, Quarterback without touching the ball. The hands off approach will allow you to achieve your goal, while working less, and living life on your terms.

The world of the entrepreneur is so unlike what we’ve learned and have experienced in the past. Most of the knowledge and mindset needed to be successful is not something you were born with. And probably didn’t experience it growing up, unless your parents were business owners.

I know most people and not just the entrepreneur hate talking about mindset. Would you purchase a product or service that said “Mindset”. Most people answer this question “No” or their actions say the answer is no.

I’m going to talk about mindset today, but I want to talk about it as it relates to your business and its success. Your mindset impacts your ability to build winning teams.

A mindset shift you should focus on is the “Superwoman” or “Superman” Syndrome. You don’t have to do everything yourself. No one will think less of you just because you’re not doing every little thing in your business. And then, well I’m just going to say it. Doing everything yourself and being overwhelmed, and frustrated is not an enjoyable place to be. And you don’t have to! It does not make others think you’re any more important or successful than you already are. Let’s face it, having a team would be so much better than being overwhelmed and frustrated all the time. Would you agree?

If you’re a “Control Freak” then no wonder you’re overwhelmed, stressed, and working long hours every day and on weekends. You probably haven’t realized you’re the bottleneck in your business. Stop trying to control everything. Everyone already knows that you’re the Boss. And everything does not have to be done one particular way. Many times there is more than one way to get to the goal. So be open, especially if they are achieving the end result. That is what you want right?

This last one, I see quite often. Everything that happens in your business, you want to touch it. “Your hands have to be in everything”. Stop it! Stop it right now! Have you even thought about this? What are you going to do when your business grows to 6 and 7 figures? And there are more moving parts? Are you going to work longer hours than you already are?

These mindsets can prevent you from building your winning team. That’s the goal, to have a team that supports you, your business, and your vision. And if you don’t shift your mindset, no matter how great the team, it won’t be a winning team because of the leader’s mindset. So, take at least one of these and change your mindset and if you’re a Game Changer work on changing the all.
